UFC 127 : PENN VS FITCH

On the last weekend of February, we will see Penn, coming out a stunning KO win against Matt Hughes, face perennial welterweight contender Jon Fitch. Penn needs to make his place in the welterweight list as a top contender, coming out from lightweight. Facing Fitch, who is 5 and 1 in his last six fights, this will be a great opportunity to solidify his place in welterweight. Fitch, on the other hand, is clearly the number one contender, yet he has been sidelined by other fighters getting title shots instead of him, due to his lay n pray fighting style. This should be a good matchup if Penn can finish, if Jon performs his lay n pray style, we are going to have a long event that Saturday.

Vitor Belfort fails to execute a game plan against Silva

After Saturday's night full of long and slow starting fights, the main event was nothin but. Although it did start slow, once Vitor and Silva started swinging, the action started, and the crowd and viewers at home went nuts. Many people including myself gave Vitor a chance. The highlight reel of Vitor unleashing a flurry of punches of the feared striker Wanderlie Silva, was what we all wanted Vitor to do. Instead he started out slow and let Silva calculate and attain his timing. Once that happened he let out that front kick to the face, knocking him out in the first round. Vitor failed to start out with guns blazing, which is how Chael   Sonnen took him down so much and even out struck him. In the end, we end up with the same champion, a new highlight reel and another punished middleweight contender.
